InBev: This Bud's for usMore VideosST. LOUIS (AP) -- Anheuser-Busch says the chief executive officer of Mexican brewer Grupo Modelo SAB has resigned from the Anheuser-Busch board. The move comes amid reports that the board is about to consider a $46 billion takeover offer from Belgian brewer InBev.The brewer said Friday that Carlos Fernandez resigned Thursday, effective immediately. It leaves 13 members on the board.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the board will meet on Friday in St. Louis, presumably to consider InBev's (INB) offer. A company spokeswoman would not comment.
Reports in recent weeks have suggested Anheuser-Busch (BUD, Fortune 500) is discussing a business combination with Grupo Modelo to head off the unsolicited offer from InBev.
