Sirius and XM on Wednesday (April 30) said they have agreed to not exercise their rights to terminate their merger proposal by May 15 and will extend their merger agreement, waiting for the FCC to render its decision on their marriage. Each side agreed to extend the deal in two-week periods until one side agrees not to go forward or the FCC makes its announcement on their future.The Department of Justice cleared the deal to move forward on March 24. There has been no firm word from the FCC when a decision will come down, but there has been plenty of meaningless speculation from a slew of self-described experts.
The two companies announced their intention to merge on Feb. 19, 2007.
