FSN Houston is teaming up with the Houston Astros to produce a 15-game package of televised games in Spanish during the current season.The Spanish-language telecasts will be carried on secondary FSN Plus channels on cable systems in Houston and South Texas markets. They will also be made available to DirecTV and Dish Network.
Rene Cardenas, who pioneered Astros’ Spanish-language radio broadcasts in the team’s first Major League Baseball season in 1962, will team with Raul Saenz to call the games. Spanish-language graphics will supplement the telecasts.
The first Spanish-language telecast is set for May 7 when the Astros play the Washington Nationals. Six games will be televised in May, four in June, two in July, two in August and one in September.
