Thu Jul 10, 12:54 PM ET LONDON (AFP) - UK blue chips closed lower, as a loss of confidence in the retail sector after a number of downbeat broker notes and weakness among banking stocks outweighed strength from the Dow Jones Industrial Average.At the close Thursday, the FTSE 100 index was down 122.80 points at 5,406.80, off a low of 5392.60, while the FTSE 250 index was 134.70 points lower at 8,519.90.
Vodafone was the most traded stock, seeing 201 million shares switch ownership, followed by RBS, which saw 106 million units change hands.
