DULUTH, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota Power, which is owned by real estate and utility company Allete Inc., said Monday it requested a rate increase for its wholesale customers with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.The request applies to the company's 16 municipal customers and two private utilities in Wisconsin. The requested increase is 10 percent for municipal customers and 12.5 percent for utility customers.
Retail customers who receive their bill directly from the company will not be affected by the rate increase.
Minnesota Power has not requested a rate adjustment for its wholesale customers since 1995, the company said. The company estimates the rate increase will boost its annual revenue by about $7.5 million.
