NEW YORK (AP) -- The governors of New York and New Jersey are asking federal officials to reconsider part of their plan to battle flight delays at the region's big airports.The U.S. Department of Transportation plans to have the airlines compete against each other in auctions for the right to use prime takeoff and landing slots at New York's congested hubs.
The best slots would go to the highest bidder.
The first auction at Newark's airport is planned for next month.
