FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) -- Business confidence in Germany slipped more than expected in December, hitting its lowest point since January 2006 only a month after it snapped a six-month decline.Germany's Ifo Institute said Wednesday that its business climate index fell to 103.0 from 104.2 in November and slipped below its October level of 103.9, putting it at nearly a two-year low.
Economists surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires had expected a smaller decline to 103.7 in the index, a closely watched indicator for Europe's biggest economy.
The index was last lower was in January 2006, when it stood at 101.8.
