NEW YORK (AP) -- Corn prices fell for a second day Friday as more dry weather in the Midwest raised hopes that cornfields might recover from massive flooding and produce a sizable U.S. crop.Other commodities traded mostly higher, with crude oil gaining nearly $3 a barrel and gold, silver and copper also rising.
Warm, dry weather persisted in much of the Midwest for a second day Friday, giving farmers a much-needed respite from weeks of excess rainfall that sparked the worst flooding in the region since 1993.
The favorable conditions sent corn prices lower for the second straight session, with the December contract falling 6 cents to settle at $7.555 a bushel on the Chicago Board of Trade, after earlier falling as low as $7.515 a bushel.
